The Honda Accord will be the first car in the company’s lineup to provide native support for Google’s suite of mobile apps through the infotainment system. As a result, users can access Google Play and download useful apps like Google Maps and Google Assistant.
The technology will be standard in the top-tier Accord Touring, which also has Honda’s most extensive infotainment display to date. However, these drivers won’t have to use their hands since Google Assistant will allow them to direct their cars only via voice commands. They can also quickly adjust the climate control, contact a buddy, or set a reminder.
You can use Google Assistant to command Google Maps to take you to a specific location, reroute you to save time or gas money, and even schedule pit breaks. In addition, users may access the Google Play store on their infotainment system and download additional Google applications and third-party podcast and music apps. According to Jay Joseph, vice president of CASE & Energy for American Honda Motor Co., Inc., “for Honda customers, vehicle connectivity is becoming essential, providing features and services that deliver intuitive, easy-to-use and access functions that makes time spent in vehicles more fun and productive.” According to Honda, “our ongoing partnership with Google in automotive technology allowed for the smooth integration of Google’s in-car functions in the all-new 2023 Honda Accord.” On November 10, a redesigned and more technologically advanced Honda Accord debuted. In addition to the 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster and the standard seven-inch touchscreen, there is an available 12.3-inch infotainment screen. The Accord Touring comes with a wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto interface, a 12-speaker Bose sound system, and a larger screen preloaded with Google applications.
In the Touring model of the 11th-generation Accord, a hybrid 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine is paired with two electric motors for more power. The sum of these parts improves the car’s responsiveness and refinement on the highway while producing 204 horsepower (152 kW/207 PS) and 247 pound-feet of torque (335 Nm).
The 2023 Honda Accord will be available at dealerships beginning next month, and pricing information will be available shortly afterward. Honda has decided to join the growing list of manufacturers using Google’s services. The business has confirmed that the 2023 Accord Touring trim level would be the first model produced by the brand to be equipped with Google as standard equipment, confirming rumors from the previous year. The car’s 12.3-inch infotainment display will give you access to Google Assistant, Google Maps, and the Play Store as you drive off the lot. You don’t need your phone to adjust the temperature, go about, or install your favorite music app.
The costs of Google services are not discussed. General Motors provides three years of Google built-in connectivity for cars like the GMC Yukon at no cost but charges $15 per month for continued service. After that, though, you won’t be completely helpless. The Accord Touring will get a 15W wireless charger to keep your phone charged and enable Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Honda has not revealed which other vehicles will use the feature. As such, the Prologue EV and other forthcoming models may use the technology. Volvo, its Polestar spinoff, GM’s brands, and Renault are just a few of Volvo’s competitors that currently include Google technology. From the year 2023 forward, Ford will also use the platform.
