GMC is utilizing the 2023 model year for the Yukon and Yukon XL full-size SUVs to introduce a new Denali Ultimate grade, which will also have GM’s Super Cruise semi-autonomous driving technology when it becomes available later in the year. A price increase is expected with a new model year and subsequent adjustments to the product range. Start prices for the 2023 Yukon and Yukon XL have increased to $59,295 and $61,995, respectively (all pricing includes destination).
The Yukon Denali Ultimate, formerly offered to the Sierra 1500 pickup truck, adds standard four-wheel drive and 22-inch dark chrome-accented wheels, edging closer to the Cadillac Escalade in terms of luxury. There are also more excellent touches inside, such as leather seats and wood accents that match the grade level.
However, technology is the main selling point. Later in the Denali Ultimate’s manufacturing cycle, Super Cruise will arrive in the Yukon. The technology works similarly to other GM vehicles with Super Cruise, allowing for hands-free driving on pre-mapped stretches of highway, automatic lane changes, and use when towing a trailer. Standard on the Denali Ultimate (and coming soon to the Denali) is enhanced automatic parking assistance. When the SUV’s speed drops below 18 mph, the system will activate, alert, and show parking instructions on the instrument cluster or infotainment screen to help the driver locate a space.
Aside from that, the remainder of the lineup only receives minor adjustments—four new exterior colors and available 22-inch wheels for the SLE, SLT, and Denali models. Performance hardware is carried over, with the SLE and SLT trims getting a standard 355-horsepower, 5.3-liter V-8 engine or an optional 277-horsepower, turbo-diesel 3.0-liter inline-six; the AT4 getting the 5.3-liter V-8 or an optional 420-horsepower, 6.2-liter V-8; and the Denali and Denali Ultimate getting the turbo-diesel standard and the 6.2-liter The ten-speed automatic gearbox is standard on all versions.
The GMC Yukon’s premium Denali lineup has been upgraded with a new top-of-the-line Denali Premier model. The Denali was the top Yukon trim level until 2023 when the Denali Ultimate replaced it. This Yukon is much more than a Denali with a few more bells and whistles.
Many people expected this to happen, especially GMC fans. GMC introduced the Sierra Denali Ultimate for 2022, making it the first GMC vehicle to have the trim. Over the last decade, the gradual increase in full-size pickup vehicle prices, interior upscaleness, and performance capabilities justified this change. The 2022 Sierra Denali Ultimate is a forerunner to the 2023 Yukon Ultimate, bringing the same success to the significant SUV segment.
Many parts in the GMC Yukon Denali Ultimate may also be found in other Yukon models. That is to say, and it resembles other GMC Yukons in appearance. However, the Denali Ultimate trim of the Yukon has several aesthetic touches that set it different from the other trim levels.
