Many Formula One fans consider Michael Schumacher the greatest driver to be a part of the sport. He is arguably the most decorated and technically sound driver the world has ever seen. He revolutionized the sport and became a global icon. By the time he retired in 2012, his track record was extraordinary for the second time, with seven championships, 91 wins, 68 pole positions, and 155 podiums. This made him the most successful Formula One driver of all time. His contribution to Formula One has been enormous, and people shall talk about his achievements for years to come.
Being into Motorsport, speed flowed in the blood of Schumacher, and with the riches, he made throughout his career, it is no surprise that he splurged a good amount on some exotic cars. Here are some of the best vehicles that Michael Schumacher has owned throughout his illustrious career.
Considering that the prime years of Michael Schumacher were spent with Ferrari, it is no surprise that his courage has a few of those Italian horses. The Enzo Ferrari, in particular, is a legendary vehicle as it carries the founder’s name and 50 years of racing heritage in it. The Enzo Ferrari was a limited production Street legal car, and the purpose of this vehicle was to bridge the gap between a daily driven vehicle and a Formula 1 car. The vehicle featured a legendary 6-liter V12 engine with an excess power output of 660 HP. What made this vehicle special was that it used a formula one-based transmission that could switch between gears in as little as 90 milliseconds in sports mode. This was one of Michael Schumacher’s favorites, with a top speed of around 200 mph and a sticker price north of a million dollars.
Towards the end of his racing career, Michael Schumacher was associated with Mercedes-Benz, and it is fair to assume that he owned one of their best sports cars ever made. The SLS AMG was created with the intent to blur the lines between a sports car and a Supercar. Powered by a 6.2 liter naturally aspirated V8, the engine produces 563 HP and 479 lb-ft of torque. The most remarkable feature of the SLS AMG happened to be its gullwing doors making it a proper successor to the 300SL. The vehicle would do 0 to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds and had a top speed of 197 mph.
Formula Ford is the entry-level class to Formula 1 racing. These single-seater open-wheel race cars are the stepping stones to building a great career in Formula 1. Even the great Michael Schumacher had his days in this class and managed to own one of the Formula Fords. These vehicles are equipped with a small 1.6-liter engine, but they produce an excess of 140 HP and have a top speed of around 150 mph. The Formula Ford can lap faster than a street-legal Ferrari on most race tracks.
The Ferrari California is considered to be the laziest and the most friendly Ferrari to ever exist. With the convertible soft top and a relatively tame engine, it is the ideal daily driver one can expect. Powered by a 4-liter turbocharged V8, the torque figure of this vehicle is enormous as it produces more than 557 lb-ft and a power output of 553 HP. The power delivery is smooth and linear, but this vehicle’s only downside is that the transmission found in this Ferrari is not as aggressive as one expects it from a Ferrari.
Yet another Ferrari in the long list of Ferraris Schumacher had; what makes this one special is that the F430 Had an engine that was co-developed with Maserati. The 4.3 liter V8 produced nearly 490 HP and 465 lb-ft of torque. The top speed of this vehicle happens to be just under 200 mph, and it can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.6 seconds which happens to be a gain of 0.6 seconds over its predecessor.
Based on the Enzo Ferrari, the Ferrari FXX is a prototype vehicle that is strictly for track-only use. This particular vehicle has a comprehensive data monitoring and telematics system, which gives the driver an exact input of everything going on around the car. It can measure lap times, G forces, brake, and throttle pressure, among many others; it helps make a better driver. Ferrari Limited the production of this vehicle to just 30 units, and one of them was given off to Michael Schumacher; the price of each unit was way over $2.5 million making it the most expensive vehicle in Schumacher’s collection.
